Italo Di Cioccio was born in Pratola Peligna (AQ), Italy. He studied Organ, Composition and Piano at the Conservatory “Alfredo Casella” of L’Aquila with teacher Annamaria Polcaro graduating with honours. At the same institute he studied Composition and he had experiences in Orchestral Conducting and in Electronic Music. After the graduation in Organ he studied the harpsichord at the Conservatory “Santa Cecilia” in Rome under the guidance of teacher Paola Bernardi. In addition to the concertistic activity, that sees him as the protagonist in many international festivals, earning anywhere unanimous consensus by audiences and critics that recognize him, in fact, the superior technology, the great sensitivity and the particular interpretative choice of repertoire that allows him to stand out in the vast concert scene, he devoted himself to composition. During the '80s, he founded and became President of the “Association Organistica Sulmonese”, with the intention to occupy with both the restoration of old organs and to spread the organistic repertoire through concerts. The experience gained in years of study in the Conservatory, led him in recent years to those recommendations. He devotes himself to computer music. He composes a lot of this kind of music, both consumption and research. His artistic interests ranging in different areas. It also brings Jazz music in the '90s and he became conductor of the Big Band. He contributes to periodicals, writing articles about organ building and organ. Simultaneously he became Founding Member of “Max Reger Organ’s Academy” of Rome which deals organistic repertoire ranging from romance to the modern period. During this period he composed "Oh bons anges dansez avec nouz" for organ, that was performed at first in Rome on the great organ of the Pontifical of Sacred Music, as part of a review dedicated to music written by contemporary composers. He composed music for TV documentaries and acronyms. In more recent years he is pianist of “Baroque and Blue Quartet”, that was born by his own idea. With this group he testes the fusion of different genres: Soundtrack, Jazz, Classical living without bitterness in the same composition. For this quartet he cared arrangements and he has composed two songs dedicated to it: “Vitrail” and “Divertissement”, that are recorded on the CD "Perosi Musici" published by Baika Musik. His last work carried out using a digital instrumentation that sees the protagonist as composer, arranger, performer, computer programmer and sound engineer. He is pianist in “The Modern Abruzzo Orchestra” and Vice President of the Confederation Organistica Italiana. He performed several concerts in duo with the saxophonist Gaetano Di Bacco and he worked as organist with orchestras and choirs. From 1978 he taught in conservatories: "Stanislao Giacomantonio” of Cosenza, "Lorenzo Perosi” of Campobasso and currently he is Professor of Organ and organist Composition at the Conservatory "Luisa D'Annunzio” of Pescara. |
